    Why · 為何

A man's face with the chinese characters for 'why'「為何」
    Youth | Age · 少年|老年

The union of 'youth'「少」and 'age'「老」symbolizing parallel universes, where one sees himself/herself at two different points in life, triggering a reflection of how one wants it to be.
    Tree Hole · 樹窿

The chinese character for 'tree'「樹」with the hollow centre「窿」exaggerated.

A tree hole symbolizes a safe zone or a trusted person one can be fully open to.
    Switch · 開關

The chinese characters in semi-cursive scripts for a ‘switch’「開關」(read from left to right).

A switch refers to the button one presses to turn things on and off. ‘Switch’「開關」comprise two very similar chinese characters in semi-cursive scripts -「開」(‘on’) and「關」(‘off’).

The switch here symbolizes a yes/no decision. As one ages, one should watch the switches in life as many should have already been ‘on’. Hence, those for temptations and distractions should better be ‘off’. Otherwise, there might be a risk for a short circuit. Here in this artwork there is a bigger stronger「關」(‘off’) on top pressing the「開」(‘on’).
    (The ONE) Soloist · 首席

One way of writing the chinese character for ‘one’「壹」

‘One’ here symbolizes one who is capable and courageous enough to be a soloist - to stand out and have the spotlight but be the only one.
    Drunk/Sober · 醉/醒

A combination of two chinese characters in semi-cursive scripts -「醉」(‘Drunk)’ and「醒」(‘Sober’)

The left component for these characters are the same. In this artwork they are sharing it. 「醉」(‘Drunk)’ or「醒」(‘Sober’) - it is by choice.
    Circle of life

Inspired by the Chinese character「圓」(‘circle’)
    Smiley Heart

The chinese character for ‘heart’「心」written in a way that resembles a smiling face.

An authentic smile which represents happiness is initiated from the heart.
    To remember/To let go · 念/忘

‘Remembrance’「念」with ‘letting go’「忘」embedded.⠀

Perhaps it is human nature that one struggles whether to remember and cherish or simply forget and let go of something or someone. Human「人」sits on the very top.
